摘要:How do space and environment impact infectious disease? This talk will discuss several partial differential equation (PDE) models for infectious disease, mainly focusing on the effect of environmental factors such as spatial heterogeneity and time-periodicity on basic reproduction number, and address issues related with coexistence of multiple strains. We will also discuss some related mathematical theory for principal eigenvalues of second order differential operators.

报告人简介:楼元,1984-1991年就读于北京大学数学系,获学士和硕士学位。1991-1995年就读于美国明尼苏达大学数学系并获博士学位。曾在MSRI1995-96年)和芝加哥大学(1996-98年)做博士后,1998-2021年任教于俄亥俄州立大学数学系,2009-2013任美国数学生物研究所副所长,2022年起任上海交通大学数学科学学院教授。其研究兴趣是反应扩散方程及在生物学中的应用,发表学术论文140余篇,目前担任J. Differential EquationsJ. Math. Biol.SIAM J. Appl. Math.等期刊编委以及DCDS-B的共同主编。
